Fall colors are here

October 22, 2009

They’ve arrived, the colors of fall. I’ve been waiting for them!
Is it really possible not to cheer up just by looking at those beautifully colored trees?

Ah, it’s such a lovely time of year to cook, don’t you think so too?

  2. I have been anxiously awaiting the 4-6 week stretch of autumn when the colors fade from green to yellow to orange to red… isn’t it glorious? Pretty soon, they’ll be all crunchy! You’ll have to introduce Lulu to the joys of leaf piles!

  3. I’m in complete agreement with Lindsay, leaf piles pour Lulu I say! Wonderful things to cook with right now, so many squashes, so little time. Dreamy photo…

  7. Fall is definitely my favorite … quite close in my heart to spring. And you are right, it is a wonderful time to cook!

  8. I love fall, it’s my favorite season by far. I love the idea of everyone coming inside from the quickly-dropping temperatures for a family meal together, and the hot food that you can make. And it’s such elegant, but simple rustic food at the same time – squash, pears, apples. I personally went overboard at the market lately buying squash… I’m going to be eating squash for months!

  17. Love the picture. Any Photoshop?
Here in Montreal, the leaves are starting to fall, and yesterday we had our first snow. Can you imagine? So I can’t think of anything but soup and ragout. :) Any good innovative recipes?

  24. Ah, Autumn when root veggies begin coming into their own and the tastiest members of the squash family beckon to me from afar!

I love in particular to roast, bake, and make soups and stews, so Autumn is definitely my favorite time of year for cooking.

  26. I love the Summer for many reasons, my favorite season…. Spring is the second, because it “prepares” for the Summer

but, there’s no doubt: Fall is THE season for cooking. My favorite recipes are braises, stews, soups, roasts… It is during Fall that I replenish my freezer with chicken and beef stock…

the trees turning red is the icing on the cake!

  32. Hi Bea,

For the last 16 days have been reading your blog continously to discover your passion for food. It has helped me resolve the conflict i had about the choice between a business school and a culinary school. I have zeroed in to go to Le Cordon Bleu, Paris to learn French cooking. However if you do have a better school in mind do let me know. Your inputs would be valueable. Thanks a lot you helped me in ways you cant phatom.

    Best regards,
    Pooja
