Fall colors are here

They’ve arrived, the colors of fall. I’ve been waiting for them!
Is it really possible not to cheer up just by looking at those beautifully colored trees?

Ah, it’s such a lovely time of year to cook, don’t you think so too?

  1. I have been anxiously awaiting the 4-6 week stretch of autumn when the colors fade from green to yellow to orange to red… isn’t it glorious? Pretty soon, they’ll be all crunchy! You’ll have to introduce Lulu to the joys of leaf piles!

  2. I’m in complete agreement with Lindsay, leaf piles pour Lulu I say! Wonderful things to cook with right now, so many squashes, so little time. Dreamy photo…

  3. Fall is definitely my favorite … quite close in my heart to spring. And you are right, it is a wonderful time to cook!

  4. I love fall, it’s my favorite season by far. I love the idea of everyone coming inside from the quickly-dropping temperatures for a family meal together, and the hot food that you can make. And it’s such elegant, but simple rustic food at the same time – squash, pears, apples. I personally went overboard at the market lately buying squash… I’m going to be eating squash for months!

  5. Perfect time of year to cook =D. That photo is stunning. Fall has such a warmth of flavour to it.

  6. What a beautiful time of year. It is definitely a great time for cooking warm, colorful things just like the colors of the season.

  7. Oh you lucky lucky lady!!!! It’s gorgeous… there is still no color out here…sighhh…

  8. I love fall..But now it’s almost “Bonjour Tristesse” here:( It snowed ! All the golden leaves are still falling.. yet we had snow..rare this early in October~

    Lovely photo..
I do so love to bake and cook in fall:)

  9. Love the picture. Any Photoshop?
Here in Montreal, the leaves are starting to fall, and yesterday we had our first snow. Can you imagine? So I can’t think of anything but soup and ragout. 🙂 Any good innovative recipes?

  10. Beautiful, beautiful photo! And a lovely time of the year, which I appreciate even from here down south where we’re celebrating spring.

  11. Bonjour,

Je suis fan des photos de ton site. Est ce que tu pourrais me donner le modèle de l’appareil photo utilisé.
    Merci

  12. Ah, Autumn when root veggies begin coming into their own and the tastiest members of the squash family beckon to me from afar!

I love in particular to roast, bake, and make soups and stews, so Autumn is definitely my favorite time of year for cooking.

  13. I love the Summer for many reasons, my favorite season…. Spring is the second, because it “prepares” for the Summer

but, there’s no doubt: Fall is THE season for cooking. My favorite recipes are braises, stews, soups, roasts… It is during Fall that I replenish my freezer with chicken and beef stock…

the trees turning red is the icing on the cake!

  14. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the color of the leaves and definitely love cooking the special dishes of autumn: stew, soups, gratins, and of course all those lovely squash. the photos on your site are incredibly lovely. Such an inspiration.

  15. yes, it is! we japanese know that very well. maples have turned red, while we have another month to go japanese acer-leaf-peeping over here in japan (osaka). but i can see plenty of seasonal vegetables and fruits anywhere. oh, i love autumn. and cooking, of course. thank you for inspiring me!

  16. I love this time of year, the colours and the weather, I definitely want to get married in October! I’ve been busy pickling beetroot and making quince brandy and elderberry wine, can’t wait to try them once they’re ready!

  17. I just love fall colors and scents.

It’s great time for cooking because of holidays too 🙂

  18. Hi Bea,

For the last 16 days have been reading your blog continously to discover your passion for food. It has helped me resolve the conflict i had about the choice between a business school and a culinary school. I have zeroed in to go to Le Cordon Bleu, Paris to learn French cooking. However if you do have a better school in mind do let me know. Your inputs would be valueable. Thanks a lot you helped me in ways you cant phatom.

    Best regards,
    Pooja

  19. I was just thinking about how blogging makes me more in tune with the seasons, more observant of things in general. Of course, you have known this for a long time 🙂
