Will you believe me if I tell you that I did not get a chance to bake any petits gâteaux (cookies) for Christmas? Bad bad me! I just didn’t. So today, although we are preparing to leave to visit P.’s family, I thought I needed to repair, and made these two chocolate petits gâteaux. Irony in this? They looked nice but I am not yet happy about the recipe a hundred percent — the chocolate needs a spice I think — so I need to work at it a little more before being able to share. And I will!
And now I am off.
Joyeux Noël !
Happy Christmas!
very festive photo! Have a wonderful holiday, Bea!
Bea, I love these little chocolate sandwich cookies. I’m completely behind on my cookies as well and literally jumped from bed to the kitchen to make gingerbread this morning. It is definitely worth it though. Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année

Joyeux Noël à toi
Merry Christmas, sweet Béa!
thank you all! I hope your celebrations are great!
My first thought was cayenne, but if you add some almond or rum oil/extract that might be nice?!
They look fabulous!
I particularily like combining sweets with alcohol. The use of a very sweet wine (e.g. Sauternes) is one example. However, there is a outstanding chocolat shop in Arbois, Jura near us (winner of Meilleur Artisan de France — please excuse my spelling) who goes well beyond this. He finds non-sweet wines (e.g. spicy) which he matches with particular chocolates (he has a chocolate laboratory). The result is that they are not only complimentary but also bring out each other’s tastes. A bit more work to try it at home, but a lot of fun.
They look wonderful to me. I’ll gladly eat your rejects! :):)
They look lovely. If you’re looking for a spice, I’m sure you know cardamom and chocolate is always a winner…
merci infiniment
